The laws of physics were not always as we understood them.

Frustrated by government commands to “Trust the Science,” a group of scientists formed a secret society of sorts and dedicated their lives to studying the intricacies of the multiverse.

They called themselves “The Possibilists.”

The Possibilists believed that every choice we make, every decision we take, creates a new branch in the multiverse. Leading to an infinite number of possible realities. They believed that by studying these branches, they could gain insights into the nature of reality itself.

Some members of The Possibilists believed in Simulation Theory. Others were quietly religious. Several were certain they’d died in their previous branch of reality and woken up in one where the author of their favorite childhood books had a slightly different name than they remembered.

A few were not actually scientists but rather government agents who’d been tasked with infiltrating the group.
